Support Assistant at Åkereds Skolväg

Åkereds Skolväg is a residential facility with special services focusing on mental disabilities.

About the Job

As a support assistant, you put the individual’s needs, abilities, and interests at the center and support the user in their daily life and their right to self-determination. Together with the users, you work to provide the best possible conditions for an independent life with high quality of life. You will work based on individually established implementation plans.

We will use methods such as Independent Living (ESL), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and Low-Arousal Approach (LAB). The work includes social documentation and collaboration with both internal and external parties who are key persons in the user's life.

We want to create groups where the strengths of the employees are utilized correctly and contribute to a work environment where there is room for discussion and where discussions are solution-focused. You are interested in being part of shaping our operations and can quickly adapt to new or changing circumstances in your work. You have the ability to express yourself well in both speech and writing, as documentation is part of your work.

The work will be scheduled for days, evenings, and weekend shifts. We use Multiaccess for scheduling. We also work with ARP and resource passes.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone with a degree from the Health and Care Program, support assistant training, or the Child and Leisure Program with a focus on social or pedagogical work. The educational requirement is also met if you have a post-secondary specialization in the disability field that includes at least 200 YH points, 120 higher education credits, or a combination thereof that corresponds to at least four semesters of full-time studies. Alternatively, 60 higher education credits and at least two years of experience working with support and services for people with disabilities. The education should have relevant credits in behavioral science, pedagogy, psychology, social work, and (psychiatric) care or other education deemed equivalent by the employer.

You need to have extensive experience working with individuals with mental and neuropsychological disabilities. Communication and social documentation are important parts of the job, so you need to master the Swedish language in both speech and writing, which requires passing grades in Swedish 1, Swedish as a second language 1, or equivalent. Those who do not meet the qualifications in Swedish 1 or Swedish as a second language 1 may be offered to take a language test through the test user Educateit.

If you have experience or knowledge of ESL, MI, and Low-Arousal Approach, these are considered advantageous.
